At Rocky Mountain Tech Team, we are often called in to clean up or pickup where another IT company has left off. More often than not, this is the Geek Squad. Recently we received a call from a potential new customer asking us to compare ourselves with the Geek Squad and our response was that for some home customers, Geek Squad may be the right solution, but for businesses, they need to consider the following before deciding on an IT solution.
Turn around: If a computer needs work, how long will you be without a system
Rocky Mountain Tech Team: We do not do hardware repair, but rather assist with warranty replacements. We'll never take your computer away and ship it to a service center unless it's direct to the manufacturer. We can also provide a loaner if needed.
Geek Squad: Repairs can take weeks or months of being without a system
Technicians: Who's coming to help?
Rocky Mountain Tech Team: We only employ IT professionals with years of experience, no entry level positions are available. Our technician's are friendly and happy to help with any situation
Geek Squad: Technicians do go through training, but are often working in their first IT position.
Solutions offered: What software, and hardware is supported?
Rocky Mountain Tech Team: We recognize that every business is different and are ready and able to help with your industry software or unique hardware needs. We never will say that we can't help you to find a solution
Geek Squad: Often are only able to support software and hardware that Best Buy sells
Service Goals: What are the driving forces behind sales and service?
Rocky Mountain Tech Team: We do not track employee performance based on number of tickets closed or number of up sales. We are in it to make a profit, but not at the expense of our customers, we're fair and match you with the best solution for your need. We measure success by customer satisfaction.
Geek Squad: Many Geek Squad employees are measured based only numbers such closed tickets and up sales of adds-on like cabling.
Price: What will you pay for the service you receive
Rocky Mountain Tech Team: We only charge you for the work that is done on an hourly basis, we share our volume discounts on Dell and other equipment with our customers
Geek Squad: Charges a flat fee regardless of the amount of time it takes, many horror stories come from when they are quick to shortcut a job to save time and still bill a flat fee.
