Hello, your phone system is calling VoIP is a somewhat confusing term, but it makes all of these scenarios possible. Think of it doing for phones what the Internet did for computers, the possibilities are seemingly limitless. Traditional phone systems often have limits or large price tags that put these features like voicemail in your inbox or unlimited extensions out of reach. It's often said that with VoIP "if you can dream, you can create it" and it's not that far from the truth. There are pitfalls with VoIP and it usually has to do with the provider of the dial tone. At Rocky Mountain Tech Team we recommend you choose a VoIP provider that will also be providing your internet connection. For example CBeyond with their SIP connect product or Forethought with a PRI circuit. Where you can get into trouble is if you choose a VoIP provider different than your ISP. For example, Packet8 over a Qwest connection. Packet8 will need a solid connection to prevent dropped calls, if Qwest cannot provide that solid connection you're in trouble and it's not within Qwest Service Level Agreement to help you solve the problem. You'll end up with Packet8 pointing fingers at Qwest and Qwest point fingers at Packet8 with a whole lot of frustration in your lap. If it's time to upgrade your phones or you're looking to bring on some more functionality, then give us a call and we can show you what VoIP is all about. |

Derek's shiny new bike When you think of your computer guy, you may not also think of an outdoors guy. Derek tries to break the shut-in stereotype by staying active snowboarding, camping, and now riding a shiny new bike! In a joint effort of cutting down carbon emissions and staying in shape, you may find Derek cruising around town this summer. In fact, biking to the Southern Sun has become an activity shared by both Derek and Brandon of Rocky Mountain Tech Team.
Check out gobikeboulder.net for a nearby trail and if you see an orange bike, take a closer look and say hello. |
