Ubiquiti update causes Guest Network issues

A recent update on Ubiquiti did something …. less than ideal.

For guest networks, it auto-checked a feature which causes problems. Essentially, it prevents the user from getting a DHCP address. So make sure when you set up a wireless network (especially guest) to uncheck “Block LAN to WLAN Multicast and Broadcast Data.”  They will likely patch this at some point, but until then just make sure. We went in to each site and fixed the setting but new sites will need this done manually at creation.

This affected at least 2 of our clients that have told us their guest network was down.

Contact us if you need a hand in correcting the issue. We’ve found Ubiquiti to be one of the best-in-class solutions for fast, scalable and flexible business wireless.
